</p><p>This was a really interesting project for us, a two colour marble floor set within the main entrance area of a Lancashire castle. The marble flooring was originally installed over 130 years ago and had seen a huge amount of foot traffic in those years.<span id="more-25"></span></p>
<p>As with any period flooring, this marble was full of deep scratches and gouges and signs of where the marble veining had begun to break down due to lack of maintenance and movement within the substrate. There were also some serious stains with the marble which had been there for many years, so long that they had become part of the stone; poultices simply could remove these stains.</p>
<p>Our main aim with this floor was to bring back the natural colour and gloss of the marble and sympathetically repair as much damage as possible whilst still retaining the floors period character, so that it was in keeping with the rest of the building.</p>
<h3>All of the shine and smoothness of the marble has been worn away</h3>
<p><a href="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020554.jpg"><img src="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020554.jpg" alt="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire" title="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire - 8" width="640" height="480" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-17" /></a></p>
<h3>Now the reflectiveness of the marble floor can be clearly seen</h3>
<p><a href="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020590.jpg"><img src="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020590.jpg" alt="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire" title="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire - 7" width="640" height="480" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-18" /></a></p>
<h3>Even against the main light source there is very little reflection in the stone</h3>
<p><a href="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020544.jpg"><img src="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020544.jpg" alt="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire" title="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire - 10" width="640" height="480" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16" /></a></p>
<h3>Great clarity brought back in the marble</h3>
<p><a href="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020619.jpg"><img src="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020619.jpg" alt="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire" title="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire - 1" width="640" height="360" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-24" /></a></p>
<h3>In this condition, the marble flooring was hard to maintain</h3>
<p><a href="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020538.jpg"><img src="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020538.jpg" alt="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire" title="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire - 9" width="640" height="480" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-15" /></a></p>
<h3>Much easier to maintain now the floor is sealed and silky smooth</h3>
<p><a href="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020599.jpg"><img src="http://marblefloorpolisher.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/P1020599.jpg" alt="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire" title="Marble Floor Polishing Lancashire - 6" width="640" height="360" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-19" /></a></p>
